The Health Information Management Coordinator is responsible for supporting various functions within Privia’s Health Information Management department including but not limited to coordinating third-party onsite visits, administrative tasks, basic medical record retrieval, and assisting the Medical Record team when needed. The Health Information Management Coordinator would have the following responsibilities.
Primary Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of best practices in order to assist with HIM department functions
- Assist in the implementation and ongoing management of team initiatives and projects as needed.
- Complete administrative tasks such as providing billing summaries to patients via email, mail or fax
- Fulfill various types of medical record requests in compliance with legal requirements, HIPAA, and Privia policies (i.e., CERT, TPE, RADV, HEDIS, RA, etc.)
- Process ‘HIE Opt-Out/Opt-In’ requests
- Assist with the chart merge and chart deletion process
- Sort and Scan mail that comes to headquarters
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Associate’s degree in medical record keeping or health information is preferred, but not required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification a plus
- Working knowledge of routine medical practices and procedures
- Knowledge of computers and software programs related to organizing and maintaining medical records
- Must comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations
