Job Description


The Health Information Management Coordinator is responsible for supporting various functions within Privia’s Health Information Management department including but not limited to coordinating third-party onsite visits, administrative tasks, basic medical record retrieval, and assisting the Medical Record team when needed. The Health Information Management Coordinator would have the following responsibilities.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of best practices in order to assist with HIM department functions
  • Assist in the implementation and ongoing management of team initiatives and projects as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as providing billing summaries to patients via email, mail or fax
  • Fulfill various types of medical record requests in compliance with legal requirements, HIPAA, and Privia policies (i.e., CERT, TPE, RADV, HEDIS, RA, etc.)
  • Process ‘HIE Opt-Out/Opt-In’ requests
  • Assist with the chart merge and chart deletion process
  • Sort and Scan mail that comes to headquarters
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in medical record keeping or health information is preferred, but not required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of routine medical practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and software programs related to organizing and maintaining medical records
  • Must comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations

  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as computer and printer

  • Ability to read and use close vision, including the ability to do so on a computer screen

  • Ability to frequently adjust focus

Technical Requirements (for remote workers):

In order to successfully work remotely, supporting our patients and providers, we require a minimum of 5 MBPS for Download Speed and 3 MBPS for the Upload Speed. This should be acquired prior to the start of your employment. The best measure of your internet speed is to use online speed tests like https://www.speedtest.net/. This gives you an update as to how fast data transfer is with your internet connection and if it meets the minimum speed requirements. Work with your internet provider if you have questions about your connection. Employees who regularly work from home offices are eligible for expense reimbursement to offset this cost.
