JOB SUMMARY:
This position has overall responsibility for the Frames manufacturing operations for welding, painting, assembly. Providing leadership, management, and direction to supervisors and utilities to achieve KPI targets in terms of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost/budget fulfillment, and Delivery. Establishment, leadership, and execution of strategies to ensure FDA readiness, OMS strategies, VIP Savings projects, Safety Awareness & Compliance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute and document the evidence of the monitoring and control activities of the manufacturing process, to sustain quality levels and EHS requirements for every day’s production.
- Establishment of the manufacturing sequence to achieve production goals daily.
- Responsible for the quality of the operation product process, which may include the ownership of resolving quality problems using the CAPA methodology, execute processes validation and qualification, develop, and implement process controls using statistical techniques such as design of experiments.
- Responsible to document and keep up to date the job Instructions, visual aids, and related quality system procedures.
- Manage the implementation of product changes through fabrication, purchasing, and assembly due to engineering changes and new product instructions.
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies into the manufacturing process including material flow and line balancing, workstation arrangements to meet required production rates and improve efficiency of the painting process.
- Responsible for EHS compliance, this means, execute projects to improve ergonomics in each workstation to prevent injury.
- Responsible for leading teams and directing the technical efforts of others.
- Promote core Baxter behaviors and values.
- Responsible for the establishment, leadership, and execution of strategies to ensure FDA readiness, OMS strategies, VIP Savings projects, Safety Awareness & Compliance for the frames manufacturing operations in welding, painting, assembly.
- Direction and leadership to utilities and supervisors on the day-to-day manufacturing operations in welding TIG / MIG, Electrostatic Painting, Assembly operations and preventive equipment maintenance.
- Responsible to assure quality compliance for all the fixtures and tools used in the manufacturing operations for welding, painting, and assembly operations, process validation, as well as to assure compliance on all documents used on the operations such as JI, quality procedures and validations, attend internal and external quality audits, Poka-yokes implementation, occasionally support supplier quality problems.
- Facilitate support groups on priorities, manages works teams to assure goals and objectives are being achieved, works with human resources, engineering, sourcing, and supplier quality engineers to ensure the daily rate fulfillment.
- Collaboration with NPI sourcing leaders and managers to support new product introduction, pilot run, support in TCO engineering project and Sourcing VIP for Monterrey site.
- Overall leadership on analysis and problem solving, coordinate and support on preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, build and qualify new fixtures, defects reduction, CAPA and NCE analysis and documentation as well as customer complaints investigations and resolutions.
- Overall leadership on manufacturing continuous improvement, manufacturing costs reduction, establish self-directed improvement mechanisms, implement lean manufacturing tools, increase production line capacity, improve roles and responsibilities of supervisors, VSM, Control Plan and PFMEA update, operational budget create and reduction, increase the training process and flexibility, reducing scrap, kaizen events, E.H.S., projects, coordinate tool room activities, identify wastes, material rework, following to Jidoka. Manage the implementation of product design and process changes through fabrication, welding, purchasing, and assembly.
- CAPEX and manufacturing OPEX, support & run equipment investment projects (from pre-investigation to execution). Support to SQE and PQE to raw material quality issues or Supplier issues.
- Ensure safety of manufacturing processes.
- Participate on new product development core teams. Responsible for manufacturing input to new product development business cases and identification and leadership of extended manufacturing team resources.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Engineering degree (master’s degree preference)
- 5 to 8 years of experience in manufacturing process (medical field desirable).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills which are effective in cross-functional teams as a leader or member.
- Experience with Manufacturing process engineer activities, programming, rack design, line balancing, time studies.
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ability to manage complete project cycle from concept to actual implementation.
- Excellent analytical decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual English / Spanish.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
- Ability / willingness to travel internationally. Ability/willingness to live internationally for periods of 3-6 months during critical phases of the NPD process.
- The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be required to have significant influence skills to drive progress and actions beyond his departmental authority.
- Solid Edge or AutoCad Experience and experience in Microsoft Project or similar software.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering science)
- 5 to 8 years of experience of progressive leadership experience in operations, leading processes, problem solving and production.
- Experience with continuous improvement & Lean manufacturing techniques, Toyota production system, problem solving analysis, project management, TPM, JIT, line balancing, six sigma, work outs/workshop, teardown, maintenance, metrology, A3 (Analysis lean tools).
- Strong technical skills on cutting, stamping, die, punching press, welding, powder coating, surface pretreatment, statistical control of production, ISO 9000 - ISO14000.
- Human resources and training, supplier development, Process and manufacturing, quality, materials, and production, Start of plant and transfer lines, Engineer drawings interpretation.
- Strong change management and influence skills are a must: Problem solving, technical knowledge of welding, painting process, lean manufacturing, complex equipment maintenance, training, engineering process, quality system, audit, FDA, ISO and ability to communicate at different levels of an organization.
