Job Description
- Play a pivotal role in providing technical guidance and direction to the Studies and Research Department and offer expert opinions and advice on economic matters.
- Supervise the preparation of economic and social studies and research, and contribute to their preparation.
- Participate in project assessment, prepare evaluation reports, and monitor ongoing projects.
- Contribute to the study and monitoring of technical assistance, preparing necessary memoranda and agreements.
- Provide opinions and advice on economic matters as requested by the Management.
- Assist in managing, monitoring, and enhancing the fellowship program.
- Supervise and collaborate in preparing chapters of the unified Arab economic report by the institution. Review drafts of report chapters and provide feedback.
- Organize and facilitate economic and social conferences and seminars, and actively participate in their proceedings.
- Contribute to efforts in coordinating with relevant institutions and organizations associated with the tasks and activities of the institution.
- Represent the institution in international conferences, seminars, and boards of directors of invested institutions.
- Prepare work papers related to Management tasks and the institution's economic activities.
- Review incoming correspondence to the Studies and Research Department and draft responses.
- Provide training to junior economists.
- Assist the Head of Department in their responsibilities.
- Undertake other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Economics from a reputable university.
- 12+ years of proven experience as an Economist in a national or international financial institution, research institutions, or public organizations engaged in studies, research, and programming. This experience should include at least 5 years in project analysis, evaluation, and management.
- Ability to lead, persuade others, work in teams, and coordinate efforts.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks and issues simultaneously.
- Effective time management skills with adherence to deadlines.
- Attention to detail and precision in work.
- Proficiency in economics fundamentals, statistical analysis, and computational economics, including computer applications.
- Strong analytical skills, familiarity with international economic issues, and understanding of matters and developments relevant to the department and the institution.
- Ability to propose solutions, provide effective advice, and gather information for informed decision-making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including persuasive public speaking and simplifying complex information in seminars and meetings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages, communication platforms, and video conferencing tools.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English is essential, and proficiency in the French language is considered an additional desirable skill.
- Demonstrates good manners, leadership ability, a sense of responsibility, and openness to criticism and guidance.
- Values time, adheres to deadlines, and has the ability to lead teams.
- Willingness to share skills and experiences with others.
- Adheres to the professional and ethical standards and rules applied within the institution.
