Job Title: Elementary School Club Leader

Schedule: Monday through Friday 15 - 30 hours/week, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (varies per location)

A progressive organization for its time, Woodcraft’s programs were notably inclusive, youth-led and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. Celebrating a century of service this year, Woodcraft has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of expanded learning opportunities in the greater Los Angeles area. Woodcraft Rangers offers full-spectrum afterschool enrichment, summer learning and outdoor education programs for nearly 15,000 youth between 4 and 18 years old from 88 Title 1 schools throughout LA County. In addition, Woodcraft Rangers has recently launched new initiatives such as Lifecraft, a career and college advancement program focused long-term academic and career goals for its over 500 staff.
Position Information:
Woodcraft Rangers Club Leaders provides academic and enrichment support to young people after school and during program times. Club Leaders are responsible for ensuring a positive learning environment for students, in-person, while adhering to CDC, and local health department guidelines. Club Leaders will support clubs in ratios of no more than 20:1. Club Leaders are responsible for a positive learning environment, academic support, providing enrichment activities and health and wellness activities. Other members of the site program team include a Site Coordinator, who oversees the program.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging and enriching activities for club participants.
- Develop and implement program activities according to program goals and monthly themes.
- Recruit and maintain program participants from school community (20:1 student to staff ratio)
- Ensure students are in a safe environment (physical and emotional) at all times.
- Develop positive relationships with youth in their program, parents, and school staff.
- Develop and implement program activities according to program goals and monthly themes.
- Maintain and submit daily student attendance rosters.
- Submit lesson plans of program activities for each session in advance.
- Develop and implement “end of session “performances or displays. WR activity catalog that support the social and emotional growth of students.
- Participate in staff development trainings as required, approximately 20 hours / year.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience working in expanded learning programs or youth recreational facilities.
- High School Diploma and/or GED, AA Degree in Child Development or a related field is preferred or minimum of one year of experience as a youth group leader working with children.
- Work well with young children and/or youth.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn.
- Valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance and CPR Certification
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination by October 1, 2021 and be fully vaccinated by October 15, 2021.
