How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Clerk, Accounting Services provides support to the finance business unit by posting and processing financial transactions while ensuring accurate coding and data entry. This role assists with financial management activities as well as supporting project accounting, accounts payable and receivable functions on a day-to-day basis.
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate understanding of invoicing requirements for all service level agreements, planning, permit and solicitor realtor inquiry fees and internal project transactions.
- Create customer invoices for specific service level agreements. Filing and recording of information, ensures records in accounting software are up to date, accurate and quality checked
- Responds to general inquires related to payables, receivables and/or accounting
- Balances accounts, tracing and resolving any discrepancies
- Generates purchase orders, requisitions, invoices and in a timely and accurate manner
- Processes customer invoice and non-invoice payments per the TRCA Planning and Permitting Fee schedule.
- Maintain up-to-date tracking sheets for departmental invoices, budget as well as maintaining up-to-date budget information and service level agreements. Manage updates to the project management tracking templates as needed for both service level agreement and fee-based tracking
- Prepares basic accounting related reports as required, including providing input into the quarterly variance reports and related journal entries.
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties
- Completion of college diploma in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related field
- 1+ years of experience in a finance or accounting environment
- Understanding of accounting software for the purposes of financial record keeping and data accuracy.
- Understanding and application of basic mathematical functions (e.g., adding, subtracting, measuring, money computation)
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint; advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis, data visualization
