Job Description
- Develop and implement a comprehensive program strategy to promote sustainable agricultural practices among local farmers, with a focus on environmental conservation, resource efficiency, and community empowerment.
- Collaborate with local communities, farmer groups, and agricultural cooperatives to identify and engage smallholder farmers interested in participating in the sustainability program.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical assistance to local stakeholders, educating them on sustainable farming practices, soil health management, water conservation, and integrated pest management.
- Facilitate the adoption of sustainable agricultural techniques, such as agroforestry, organic farming methods, and climate-smart practices, among smallholder farmers.
- Develop and manage demonstration farms or pilot projects to showcase the benefits and impact of sustainable practices, serving as models for replication and scaling up.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, and NGOs to leverage resources, coordinate initiatives, and advocate for supportive policies that promote sustainable agriculture and rural development.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of the sustainability program, collecting data, analysing results, and preparing reports to demonstrate program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
- Engage with funding agencies, donors, and partners to secure financial support and resources for program implementation and expansion.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, farmer associations, and relevant stakeholders to ensure program sustainability and foster community ownership.
- Stay updated on the latest trends, research, and innovations in sustainable agriculture and community development, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance program effectiveness.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Environmental Development or a related field.
- Proven at least 5 years experience in sustainability program management in agricultural sector in similar organisation.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, smallholder farming systems, and rural livelihoods.
- Familiarity with community engagement approaches, participatory methods, and empowerment strategies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, implement, and monitor program activities within budget and timeline constraints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate diverse stakeholders, including smallholder farmers and local communities.
- Understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, with experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in Thai and English communication is a must.
