Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Our Technical Services Team is seeking Fitters to provide the day to day reactive and preventive maintenance and servicing for Te Whatu Ora, the health provider for Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District.

As part of our maintenance team you will be a key player in ensuring that Wellington Regional, Hutt and Kenepuru Hospitals are safe, fit for purpose and responsive to the needs of the community.

We are looking for self-starters and team players who are passionate about working collaboratively to improve systems, increase delivery confidence and implement best practice.

We provide a full range of services, including installations, repairs, and maintenance of critical systems such as backup generators, uninterruptible power supplies, boilers, AHU - s, pumps, chillers, water supply, heating and electronic tempering valves. Our team understands the importance of reliable electrical systems in a hospital setting, and we work diligently to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally.

Working closely with the Wellington and Hutt Trade Supervisors, this role provides excellent training and development opportunities for you to advance and refine your skills in a dynamic environment.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to travel to Wellington, Porirua and Kāpati Coast to provide consistent service delivery across the district.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The Property & Facilities team is part of the wider Finance and Business Services directorate and is responsible for all facets of building infrastructure and its supporting systems. We oversee plant and equipment including reactive and planned maintenance activities through to investment into new builds and large complex upgrade works.

Moū - About you

You will be a highly skilled and experienced trade staff who understands the unique challenges and safety considerations involved. You - re a self-starter, love maintenance and problem solving and to top it off you have communication skills that can be applied across all platforms. You must be able to balance technical understanding against solution based thinking. You enjoy being part of a team and getting amongst it just as much as you enjoy working on your own solving an issue for one of our clinical team.

Most importantly is having the drive to manage, motivate and grow people within your team.

In addition to being suitably qualified with either a relevant trade or considerable experience in this field we are seeking interest from people who:

  • Have a passion for the industry you work in and a strong desire to assist in the delivery of health care services
  • Can build relationships within the Property and facilities team as well as our wider clinical teams and subcontractors
  • Understand maintenance requirements - this is not a construction position
  • Understand the sensitive nature of working in a hospital environment and take every precaution to minimise disruptions and maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Understanding contracts and the legal compliance/regulations as it pertains to your industry requirements
  • You will be a team player who can interrelate with other skilled professionals such as project managers, engineers and suppliers.
