We are looking for a driven engineer who wants to make a difference!
In IKEA we are having a high focus on removing the plastic in our packaging solutions and we need to be innovative to make it happen! We want you to be curious and explore how material development can make an impact for us and how it can be implemented in our products, in close collaboration with our suppliers.
It’s a position where you have the opportunity to make an impact! In the team we are 2 packaging engineers, and we are working close together with other teams in the organisation, to make an impact on our products and for the costumers. We are searching for solutions to set ourselves up for the omnichannel reality we are facing, with a lot of business happening online. This is done in close cooperation with product developers, engineers, suppliers and store co-workers, to ensure that the solutions will work all the way from the supplier to the customer.

As a Packaging Solution Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Developing packaging solutions for multichannel to meet demands on form, function, cost, quality and sustainability and make sure they work through the total value chain and the whole product lifecycle.
- The technical packaging documentation, securing that the documentation is up to date and according to IKEA standards.
- Securing that the packaging solution meets all technical & legal requirements.
- Exploring new materials for packaging and discovering ways to improve costs, reliability and sustainability in packaging.
- Improve our working methods for developing packaging solutions, for example virtual development.
Qualification

To be successful in this role it comes natural to you to look for the ultimate solution and the economic value. You have a strong technical drive in your work and love to work in a constantly changing environment. As a Packaging Solution Engineer you also need a personality with great operational and tactical thinking because of the proactive work for the whole package chain.
In this role you need to have analytical and creative skills and ability to transfer knowledge, concepts and ideas into packaging solutions. You pay attention to details while working with product documentation, even when the tasks become repetitive and the workload is high. Since you will work with several different teams you need to have good communication ability, work in a proactive way and make things happen through involving and engaging people.
We are looking for someone with knowledge in packaging construction in terms of drawing technique, technical solutions and design for manufacturing. You have experience from working in 3D tools, preferably SolidWorks & Artios CAD. Furthermore, you have knowledge in packaging requirements and global packaging test methods and standards. You have a theoretical and practical knowledge about packaging and its impact in the value chain, from raw material to the co-worker and customer perspective.
IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English.
