Job Summary:
Tutors at Oak Learners are experienced teachers who are passionate about providing personalized learning opportunities and building confidence in students of all ages.
Tutors design and deliver weekly or bi-weekly sessions in a 1:1 tutoring format. Tutors are part-time employees at Oak Learners and work collaboratively with other members of the educational team.
Main Duties:
● Provide academic support and coaching for assigned students in academic subjects and study skills, either individually or in study groups.
● Create, research and obtain curriculum and teaching tools that suit the needs of each individual student
● Maintain records on each student who is being tutored, as well as prepare and submit evaluations and other reports as requested
● Maintain regular communication with parents about their child’s progress, including maintaining the “Reflection Book” and providing in-person feedback
● Support students in building confidence and self-efficacy with academics
Required Experience:
● Must have a Bachelor of Education and be a member of the Ontario College of
Teachers
● 2-3 years of teaching experience preferred (classroom teaching or tutoring)
● Preferred Special Education AQ or other AQ’s related to teaching specialties.
● Strong academic skills and an ability to adapt lessons to the needs of all learners.
● Knowledge of the Ontario school curriculum and the expected outcomes for students at various grade levels.
● Up-to-date knowledge about learning theories, techniques and resources.

● Ability to work with people from various disciplines and cultures
● Ability to problem solve
● Time management and organizational skills.
● Ability to assume responsibility, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
● Ability to work with minimal supervision
